Duralex // Marine Blue Picardie Tumbler
A Marine Blue coloured variant of the "original French tumblers", the tempered Picardie glasses are functional and stylish. Designed in 1927 and produced by Duralex since 1945 they've become the standard glass in French bistros. The Picardie gets its name after the Picardie province in northern France, a region known for being the heartland of French gothic cathedrals. It feels extremely comfortable in your hand, and is perfect for anything from ice cold water, to freshly brewed tea or coffee.
Duralex glass is 2.5 times stronger than annealed glass, virtually unbreakable. If however Duralex glass does break in your hands, there is no risk of injury as it bursts into a multitude of blunt pieces. The glass used is tempered, meaning that it can be used to serve both hot and cold beverages. It is therefore heat resistant, but also microwave and dishwasher safe. The glass moves smoothly from freezer to microwave and is capable of enduring a thermal shock of 130°C. Duralex glass is also hygenic and non-pourous.
Founded in 1939, Duralex has been manufacturing tempered glassware and tabletop products for over 80 years in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin in the very heart of France. Since 1939, when Duralex invented the glass tempering process, their name has been associated with toughened glassware. Duralex has reached a level of excellence that makes its products recognised throughout the world. They are and will always remain a true French manufacturer of glassware and tabletop products, and are the only glass manufacturers that makes 100% of their products in France.
